【Kusatsu Music Archive】Maurice Gendron & Keiko Toyama 1980

The second piece of “Kusatsu Music Archive” is the 3rd movement “Largo” from Chopin’s last great work, the Cello Sonata in G Minor, Op. 65. Maurice Gendron plays the cello and Keiko Toyama plays the piano.
The French great cellist, Gendron participated in the 1st Kusatsu International Summer Music Academy & Festival 40 years ago. Although there were no concert halls at that time and the Tenguyama Rest House was the venue, the recital with Keiko Toyama was deeply moving to the audience. The poetic beauty of the two musicians’ unique worlds and the quiet conversations between cello and piano are captivating.
