The 10th piece of “Kusatsu Music Archive” is the Part 2 from the Bach’s Johannes-Passion, BWV245 which is one of the two major Passions. “Evangelista” by Ernst Haefliger as tenor, “Jesus” by Tsuyoshi Mihara as baritone, “Pilatus” by Ikuo Oshima as bass perform with Kusatsu Academy Chorus and Kusatsu Festival Orchestra under the conductor of Jörg Ewald Dähler.
In the 7th of our “Kusatsu Music Archive”, we introduced Ernst Haefliger’s German Lieder, but he has also earned international acclaim for his favorite role in the Bach’s Passion “Evangelista”. In Kusatsu, he performed the entire “Johannes-Passion” in 1997 at the 18th Kusatsu Music Festival. Just before the age of 80, Ernst Haefliger poured his whole soul into a mature recitative.
