The 3rd piece of “Kusatsu Music Archive” is “Fantasy” from Bach’s original masterpiece for keyboard instrument, Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor, BWV903. Edith Picht-Axenfeld plays harpsichord.
The German keyboard player Edith Picht-Axenfeld first appeared at the 2nd Kusatsu International Summer Music Academy & Festival in 1981. Since then, she visited Kusatsu almost every year for 15 years until the 17th Kusatsu Festival in 1996. She was a great person who trained many musicians, brought the music deep into the audience’s hearts, and supported the music festival of that period.
In particular, there were many great performances of Bach performed by Edith Picht-Axenfeld. The deep and rich music comes alive.
