The 8th piece of “Kusatsu Music Archive” is the Debussy’s masterpiece, Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp, I. Lento, dolce rubato. Aurèle Nicolet plays the flute, Serge Collot plays the viola and Ayako Shinozaki plays harp.
Praised as one of the best flutist of the 20th century and trained many world-renowned flutists, Aurèle Nicolet participated in Kusatsu Music Festival 5 times. Every year he performed in concerts, there was a program with the French viola player and experienced chamber musician Serge Collot. They played the Debussy with Ayako Shinozaki, and it was also deeply marked in Aurèle Nicolet’s own memory. The performance took place in 1993 at the concert hall that was built two years earlier in Kusatsu.
